Convert iPhone photos so they open anywhere.

This is a free tool that runs in the browser: open the page to use it. File tools process files on the visitor's own device; files are never uploaded or stored. No account, sign-up, payment or watermark.

Convert HEIC or HEIF photos from an iPhone into JPG or PNG so they open anywhere, entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded - the conversion happens locally and works on a whole batch at once.

Each photo is decoded using your browser's native image support first - Safari can already read HEIC directly. Only if that fails does a small decoder load to handle it instead, so most visits never need to download anything extra.

The decoded photo is drawn to a canvas and re-encoded as JPG or PNG at the quality you choose, with the original orientation preserved so portrait photos don't come out sideways.

A whole batch of photos can be converted in one go, downloading as a single zip file when there's more than one.

Q: Why does my iPhone save photos as HEIC in the first place?
A: HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPG at the same visual quality, so it saves storage space - but far fewer apps and older devices can open it.

Q: Will this work on Live Photos or bursts?
A: Only the main image is converted - the motion or burst frames aren't included in the JPG or PNG output.

Q: Does converting lose quality?
A: JPG is a lossy format, so there's some quality loss at lower quality settings - raise the quality slider for a closer match to the original, or choose PNG for a lossless result.

Q: Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
A: No, decoding and re-encoding both happen locally in your browser tab.

Q: Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?
A: Yes, drop in a batch and each is converted in turn.

Q: Will the photo keep its date and location data?
A: No. Conversion redraws the image, which leaves the metadata behind - useful if you're sharing the photo, inconvenient if you were relying on the timestamps.

Q: Why can't Windows open HEIC files?
A: HEIC uses patent-encumbered HEVC compression, so Windows doesn't ship the decoder by default and asks you to buy an extension. That's the single most common reason people need this conversion.

Q: How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC in the first place?
A: Settings, then Camera, then Formats, then choose 'Most Compatible'. New photos are saved as JPEG from that point on, at the cost of slightly larger files.
