Turn a link, note, or Wi-Fi password into a QR code you can download.

This is a free tool that runs in the browser: open the page to use it. File tools process files on the visitor's own device; files are never uploaded or stored. No account, sign-up, payment or watermark.

Turn a link, Wi-Fi password, or plain text into a QR code image in your browser. Codes are generated locally at error correction level Q by default, and never expire because nothing is stored on a server.

QR codes follow the ISO/IEC 18004 standard. Text is encoded into a grid of black and white modules using one of four error correction levels, then drawn directly to a canvas at a fixed module size so edges stay crisp for scanners.

Reed-Solomon error correction lets a scanner read the code even if part of it is damaged or covered by a logo. Level L can recover roughly 7% of the code, M about 15%, Q about 25%, and H about 30% - trading a denser code for more redundancy.

A quiet zone of blank space is left around every code. Many free generators skip this or make it too thin, which is the most common reason a code that looks fine fails to scan against a busy background.

Error correction levels at a glance:
| Level | Damage it survives | Capacity cost | Use it for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| L | About 7% | Lowest | Screens only, where nothing can scuff the code |
| M | About 15% | Low | Digital use with a little visual noise behind it |
| Q | About 25% | Moderate | The default here - print, stickers, anything handled |
| H | About 30% | Highest | Labels, packaging, or a code with a logo over the middle |

Q: Is anything I type sent to a server?
A: No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser tab. Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere.

Q: Do these QR codes expire?
A: No. There's no tracking layer or redirect service involved, so there's nothing that can expire or go offline - the code encodes your data directly.

Q: What error correction level should I use?
A: Level Q (the default) is a solid middle ground. Use L only for short, damage-free scanning like a code printed and kept indoors; use H if you plan to add a logo overlay or expect the code to get scuffed.

Q: Can I add a logo to the middle of the code?
A: Not yet - it's on the roadmap. For now, use a high error correction level if you plan to overlay a logo manually afterwards.

Q: Why does the code get denser with more text?
A: QR codes scale in fixed steps called versions. More text, or a higher error correction level, pushes the encoder to a higher version, which packs more modules into the grid.

Q: PNG or SVG - which should I download?
A: SVG if you're printing at a large size or embedding it in a design tool, since it scales without blurring. PNG is fine for screens and most everyday uses.

Q: What size should I print a QR code?
A: As a rough rule, the printed width should be about a tenth of the distance it'll be scanned from. A code on a table card can be small; one on a poster read from across a room needs to be much larger.

Q: Can I track how many people scan it?
A: No, and that's deliberate. A tracking code redirects through someone else's server, which means it can break, expire, or start logging your visitors. These codes point straight at what you encoded.
