Convert WebP images to JPG, free and in your browser.

This is a free tool that runs in the browser: open the page to use it. File tools process files on the visitor's own device; files are never uploaded or stored. No account, sign-up, payment or watermark.

Convert a WebP image to JPG entirely in your browser - useful for opening a WebP image saved from the web in software that doesn't support the format yet.

The WebP file is decoded and drawn to an off-screen canvas, then re-encoded as JPEG at the quality level you choose.

If the source WebP has transparency, it's filled white before encoding, since JPEG has no transparency channel.

WebP and JPEG are both lossy, so a WebP that's already heavily compressed may show a little more visible loss after a second lossy encode - this is inherent to converting between any two lossy formats, not specific to this tool.

Q: Why won't my WebP image open in some programs?
A: WebP is a newer format and some older or less common software hasn't added support for it yet. Converting to JPG sidesteps that.

Q: Will converting lose quality?
A: Both formats are lossy, so converting between them can introduce a small additional amount of compression loss, more noticeable at lower quality settings.

Q: Is my image uploaded anywhere?
A: No, conversion happens entirely in your browser tab.

Q: Does it work with animated WebP?
A: No - only the first frame of an animation would be kept, so animated files are skipped with a clear message rather than silently breaking the animation.

Q: Will a transparent background become white?
A: Yes. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white rather than turning black, which is the usual failure mode elsewhere.

Q: Can I convert several WebP files at once?
A: Yes, drop in a batch and each one is converted in turn.

Q: Why is WebP used so much on websites?
A: It produces noticeably smaller files than JPEG or PNG at comparable quality, so sites load faster. The trade-off is that older desktop software often can't open it.

Q: Does the quality setting matter for JPG output?
A: Yes. JPEG is lossy, so the quality slider directly controls the size and fidelity of the result. Around 80% is the usual sweet spot.

Q: Does this work on my phone?
A: Yes - it runs in your phone's browser exactly like on a computer, with no app to install.
